Mastercard launches musician accelerator program via NFT access.
I’ve been pretty vocal about the lack of urgency from the music business in Web3, dating back to articles from the summer of 2021. I understand the cautious approach to some degree as the music business in particular has suffered from technological evolution in the past but I’m pleased to see some major steps forward in recent times.
According to their site,
“Web3 music is a new standard in the music industry that aims to empower creators and fans, while also transforming the way we experience and enjoy music. It is a vision of a decentralized, open and fair music ecosystem built on blockchain technology.”
Raja Rajamannar, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer said,
“We’re exploring and experimenting with Web3 technology to extend our brand efforts”

2. Market Update
Here’s a look at the market update as of 16/04/2022. Courtesy of NFTGo
Data was collected from 5,686 collections and 43,681,914 NFTs in total.
Things are still tough out there, the bear market is still in play. However, there does feel like a more positive sentiment has been creeping in, mostly due to the positive Q1 performance in the Crypto sphere.

As you can see, some big money is still moving between wallets on some of the Bluechip projects.
4. Thought Piece
Community is everything in Web3.
For those who are not aware, Bobby Hundreds is the founder and owner of The Hundreds, a legendary streetwear brand from Los Angeles. He’s also been at the leading edge of the NFT space with his project Adam Bomb Squad, published a great book on building The Hundreds brand, and is soon to release a book on the NFT world. He’s one of the best speakers on the subject and often shares great insight.
The following post is a Tweet he shared yesterday and an example of the valuable knowledge brands and individuals should pay attention to if they want to build a successful project in the Web3 world. Many big brands have struggled in the NFT space and it’s largely to the fact they’ve not understood how the community acts and feels.

I particularly liked this quote
“If you craft your brand to speak honestly to a community of one, that's all it takes to hone a clear and sharp voice in a noisy market.”
This is such an important message for anybody in any industry trying to launch a brand.
5. Interesting Project Update
I wrote about the Adidas ALTS project in a recent post, it’s continuing to evolve and I was fortunate to be able to snag one of their Universal access keys.

The next step will be to see if I get a chance to grab the desired character for the next stage of the project. Each character comes with different utility and experiences from real to virtual.
